Our programs and events are successful because of our committed volunteers who come back year after year.

We have a range of volunteer opportunities available for volunteers of all skill levels for our programs, including FIRST Lego League Jr., FIRST Lego League, FIRST Technical Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition.

Key volunteer roles include:

  • Mentors & Coaches - Guide teams as they work through the challenges of each season; offer off-season support and guidance
  • Event Volunteers - Help produce seasonal events at the local, regional, and national levels; take on a variety of jobs from judging to crowd control
  • FIRST Senior Mentors - Recruit, support, and expand FIRST programs; attract new volunteers, mentors and coaches to sustain and support teams; support outreach events, expositions and demonstrations (prior experience required)
  • FIRST VISTA Members - Serve in a full time capacity to facilitate access to FIRST programs in low-income and low-resource communities
  • FIRST Championship Volunteers - Support one or both FIRST championship events in one of the many available volunteer positions

We have an extensive need for volunteers at our 12 FRC District Events and our District Championship at Worcester Polytechnical Institute (WPI). Some of those roles include:

  • Awards Assistant Volunteer (Must be highly organized and a good communicator)
  • Crowd Control Volunteer (Must be a good communicator and have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Pit Administration Support Volunteer (Must be a good communicator)
  • Practice Field Attendant Volunteer (Must be a good time manager)
  • Safety Exit Monitor Volunteer (Must be upbeat and have the ability to sit for long periods)
  • Team Queuing Volunteer (Must have the ability to stand for long periods)
  • Lounge Monitor Volunteer (Must be upbeat and have the ability to sit for long periods)
  • Registration/Information Table Volunteer (Must be upbeat and detail oriented)
