Week 2, encore two! FIRST Robotics Competition teams are amped to keep seeing how CRESCENDO match play is progressing!
Wilby High School hosted 33 teams from Connecticut and Massachusetts during this Week 2 event in Waterbury. Special thanks to City of Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski and Waterbury Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Verna D. Ruffin for welcoming our event to the city and school!
We were excited to have presenting sponsor Medtronic on site with their surgical robot demonstration to show visitors about the power of STEM and robotics in the world of healing. Many things to Senior Director of R&D for Surgical Robotics Chris Plocharsky for sharing with the teams how important it is for their bright young minds to shape the future!
Teams amplified their notes to reach high scores of 91 in qualification matches and 96 in playoffs. Alliance 1 lost to Alliance 4 in round 2, entering the lower bracket and playing against three more alliances to make it back to the final matches for another chance at the win. Alliance 4 tried to hold on to their standing, but Alliance 1 came back after three close matches to become Waterbury District Event Champions!
